Keeping the whole family smiling together on holiday is no easy task, especially if you’ve got little children who constantly need to be entertained! So if you fancy a change from a day by the swimming pool, want to escape Barcelona’s summer heat or just want to treat your little ones to something out of the ordinary, the Museu d’idees I invents de Barcelona is the place you should go. We wish you a lovely stay at our familial aparthotel in Barcelona!
The name of this family-friendly attraction translates into English as the Museum of Ideas and Inventions and it’s a place where children can free their imaginations and learn a little at the same time. The exhibitions are divided into three permanent collections: Limitless Society dedicated to the ideas and futuristic creations made by individuals and big-name brands, Reflectionarium which is full of hands-on interactive displays you can have fun with and Corner of the Absurd home to funny, pointless inventions to make you laugh.
The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions throughout the year. Until the end of October 2016, the Terror Chamber will be on display where adults and children alike can be wowed and shocked with history’s most terrifying ideas.
There are many hidden little extras scattered around the small museum that you won’t want to miss! Take a look through the periscope as soon as you enter to see what’s happening below your feet then ride the tube slide down to get there! There’s also a cool area called Resonate where you can speak and hear your voice being echoed around you, plus a small café where parents can relax and enjoy a coffee whilst children enter the invention contest to have their idea made into a prototype in the Kids’ Space.
The Museu d’idees i invents de Barcelona is located at Carrer de la Ciutat, 7, 08002, Barcelona, several streets back from La Barceloneta beach. The closest metro station is Jaume I, which is just a five-minute walk away.
The museum is open on weekdays 10am-2pm and 4pm-7pm, on Saturdays 10am-8pm and on Sundays and bank holidays 10am-2pm. The museum is closed every Monday.
